About This Internship
Arch’s 10-week summer internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.
About This Role
Assist the Commercial Excess Construction team in evaluating and underwriting new and renewal business.
Collect and analyze data related to commercial excess casualty accounts, including submission materials, loss runs, and financial statements.
Participate in risk assessment by reviewing applications, endorsements, and exposure to help determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
Support the preparation and management of policy documentation, including quotes, binders, endorsements, and renewal notices.
Conduct market research to analyze industry trends and competitor activities, supporting underwriting decisions.
Interact with brokers and clients under the guidance of senior underwriters to assist with inquiries and policy-related issues.
Provide administrative support, including organizing files, maintaining systems, and handling correspondence.
Contribute to special projects, such as process improvements and developing underwriting tools.
Qualifications
Actively completing area of study in Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or relevant program.
Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
College level - current Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner.
Team player who collaborates effectively.
Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Location & Work Arrangement
The program dates are June 2 - August 8, 2025.
This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 2 days onsite and 3 days from home.
This position is in New York City, NY or Alpharetta, GA.
Relocation and housing assistance is not provided for this role.

Pay
For individuals assigned to or hired to work in New York City, NY or Alpharetta, GA, the hourly rate is $22-30 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
