Associate Actuarial Analyst:
The Associate Actuarial Analyst position is responsible for assisting with the review and analysis of the company’s loss and expense reserve development for financial reporting as well as rating analysis in support of underwriting rate filings and experience reporting.
Major Accountabilities:
- Act as a lead resource for ratemaking, loss reserve studies, financial reporting, forecasting and other special projects as needed for company support and state DOI rate filings.
- Assist with compiling and ensuring the accuracy of data, organizing information for effectiveness, and collaborating with others in various disciplines as needed.
- Prepare and maintain complex models, analyzing results, making recommendations and implementing changes to our products and processes
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics or related field required. Must be currently pursuing the designation of ACAS (Associate) in the Casualty Actuarial Society. Requires the completion of two or more actuarial exams. R, SQL, Python, SAS experience are a plus.
Experience/Specialized Skills: Basic knowledge of actuarial methods and analysis required. At least one year of experience working with data and advanced querying skills required. Insurance industry experience preferred, but not required. Able to function independently with strong time management skills. Advanced computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet, e-mail) required.
Special Considerations
Physical Requirements: Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone). Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping. Occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.). Heavy use of computer and office equipment.
Additional Requirements: Occasional travel may be required. Periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends may be required.
