Risk Management Intern
HITT Contracting, a Washington Post Top Workplace, seeks a summer intern to join our Risk Management team in the Falls Church, VA headquarters office. While gaining firsthand understanding of a dynamic and fast-growing top-50 ENR general contractor, this individual will provide administrative assistance to support of the operations of the Risk Management Department. This position reports directly to the Leader of Risk Management and will be mentored/managed on a day-to-day basis by multiple members of the Risk Management team.
The ideal candidate is an independent thinker who is solutions driven. Therefore, an analytical and critical thinking mindset is essential. The key to this position is also a great attitude, high attention to detail and a sense of urgency in providing service to internal and external clients. Responsibilities
- Learn risk finance and risk transfer principles through support of subcontractor prequalification efforts
- Communicate expectations and criteria for subcontractor qualification
- Assist with review of financial documents
- Assist with the collection and maintenance of documentation for recordkeeping
- Collect, maintain, and analyze data and report on findings
- Assist with support of supplier & subcontractor diversity initiatives
- Cultivate and promote positive relationships with HITT internal teams and subcontractor community
- Internship runs from May 19th to July 28th
- The compensation starts at $17/hour
- Qualified candidates will need to participate through the duration of the internship program
Qualifications
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a deadline-oriented environment while maintaining quality
- Ability to apply professional judgment in making recommendations in response to identified risks
- Proficient user of Microsoft office including Excel and PowerPoint
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all business matters
- Progressive thinker – we are seeking a candidate who has a keen eye for process improvement
Education
- Seeking a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, or associated majors
- Preference for completed Risk Management courses
- Rising junior or senior preferred
