The Communications & Events Coordinator will coordinate the communications and events for GIS and will support all daily activities of the VP of Industry Engagement. Execution of this role will support Gamma Iota Sigma’s strategic plan and be done in coordination with the GIS Leadership Team, Executive Committee, and Board of Trustees.
NOTE: This is a fully remote position.
Maintain and update GIS website
Create social media content and graphics
Maintain social media marketing calendar and manage postings across all GIS platforms
Create brochures/flyers as needed
Prepare monthly student and industry newsletters
Research event venues and vendors for live and virtual events
Manage venue and vendor contracts including but not limited to catering, AV, hotel room blocks, etc.
Function as primary point of contact for event venue and vendor partners
Coordinate on-site volunteers
Coordinate sponsor signage and promotional logistics
Support speaker/session logistics and communications for national and regional events
Manage virtual conference software platform
Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
1-2 years related experience required.
Contract and vendor management experience required.
Insurance industry experience preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills.
Experience with graphic design tools and software.
Proficient in Microsoft Product Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Proficient in LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
Desire to learn and grow professionally.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Team player with a collaborative mindset.
Strong work ethic.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This role requires:
A remote office location with internet.
Approximately 10% travel, including air travel and driving.
Work nights and weekends as necessary to attend meetings and events.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds when required on-site at events.
Telecommuting is allowed.
