Graduate Development Program – Property Claims Representative Job Summary
Starting Salary: $48,500

The Graduate Development Program (GDP) prepares recent college graduates, experienced professionals looking for a change of pace, and veterans for an exciting career at Westfield. The GDP combines a variety of learning techniques, including:
Classroom-based training on insurance-related topics, critical thinking, marketing, collaboration, and customer service.
Observation and practice elements are included to increase exposure to the business unit and to complete assigned research topics.
Self-study eLearning to support project work and individual development.
Teambuilding activities with peers.
Networking with leaders across the organization.
Coaching and mentoring throughout the program from experienced employees.
The GDP training will take place in our home office in Westfield Center, OH. Upon completion of the program, you will be relocated to our Knoxville, TN service office.
Property Claims Representatives deliver on the promise we make as a company to our policyholders. As a property claim representative, you use your expertise to investigate the loss, determine which coverage applies and what monies are owed. Insurance is a people business, and you become the face of the company to our customers. Working as a property claims representative involves:
Expertise, empowered decision making and interaction with our policyholders on a daily basis.
Maintaining an open communication channel with customers and agents throughout the claims process.
Negotiating an appropriate settlement for all parties involved in the claim.
Analysis and investigation to determine whether or not proper coverage exists and to obtain relevant facts concerning all aspects of a claim.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple assignments.
Experiences using software packages. (included, but not limited to, Microsoft Office)
Insurance or business-related degree.
Relevant internship or work experience.
Engagement in activities that demonstrate leadership potential.
Ability to operate various types of computer equipment and software programs.
Ability to communicate via the telephone.
Ability to travel, as required both potentially both inter and intra state.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to relocate if deemed necessary by the business unit.
