The Intern will report to the Assistant Vice President of the Underwriting Department. The preferred candidate will be pursuing a major in Risk Management and Insurance. The Position Objective is: the individual will be working in an internship position under the direction of a senior level employee, completing projects or tasks that support the business area goals and results. The intern will perform tasks by adapting to new or changing situations in a team environment, gathering Underwriting information, planning and organizing work efficiently and effectively, applying and learning technical skills appropriate to the specific job assignment. The Primary Accountabilities are to Support Company Business Goals/Results by beginning to develop an understanding of Pennsylvania Lumbermens' business environments, corporate culture and structure to support work initiatives, maintain work efficiency and respond positively to a changing environment, is open to and supports new ideas, systems and procedures, generates creative ideas and actions in response to changing situations, promptly adjusts strategies or tactics in situations where the current approaches are ineffective. Information Gathering: demonstrate ability to gather appropriate information, efficiently identify sources of information for a wide variety of problems or needs, seek help when information is difficult to obtain, seek out knowledgeable people to obtain information or clarify a problem, probe skillfully to get both information and its context, uses skillful questioning to draw out implied and indirect information. Candidate must be in pursuit of a master's, bachelor's degree or certificate program that is related to the internship.
